New Little League Bat Changes Coming in 2018!
New Little League Bat Changes
Coming in 2018!
Make sure you know about the changes before buying a new bat!
Starting, January 1st, 2018, Little League will be implementing USA Baseball Bat Standard for all its bats. This means that Little League-approved baseball bats that are approved for use for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity. You can still use Little League-approved baseball bats until the end of 2017 but, starting in 2018, you will need to get a bat approved by the USA Baseball Bat Standard.
What to look for when purchasing a new bat:
- Bats that are approved will have the USA Bat marking on it.
- The maximum barrel size for all level of play is 2 5/8 inches.
- No drop weight limit.
- Only multi-piece wooden bats require markings. One-piece wooden bats do not.
These changes apply to Minors, Majors, Intermediate, and Junior Divisions. Only to baseball bats.
Please make sure that you’re aware of these changes before purchasing a new bat. You don’t want to end up buying a bat that you can’t use! Starting this Fall, bats approved for 2018 should be available to purchase.
